Official! Barcelona star signs a new contract
Barcelona continue to secure the long-term future of their young talents.
Details: Barcelona's 19-year-old defender Xavi Espart has signed a new long-term contract that will keep him at the Catalan club until June 2030. The agreement has been confirmed, bringing an end to months of negotiations over the youngster's future. His previous deal was due to expire in 2028.
The renewal had been in the works for several weeks. Back in September, Barcelona sporting director Deco publicly confirmed that the club was working on extending Espart's contract alongside new agreements for Raphinha and Marc Bernal.
Espart joined Barcelona's academy in 2015 from UE Vilassar de Mar and progressed through the La Masia ranks. He made his first-team debut in March 2026 against Newcastle United in the Champions League and was officially promoted to the senior squad ahead of the 2026/27 season, receiving the number 12 shirt.
It's worth noting that Espart scored his first competitive goal for Barcelona on September 13, 2026, opening the scoring in a 4-2 victory over Levante. The versatile defender also won the European Under-19 Championship with Spain in the summer of 2026.
Reminder: Deal through 2030! Barcelona extend contract with their main star
