The decision was made by the board of directors under the leadership of Barcelona president Joan Laporta.

Details: The Catalan club Barcelona released an official statement informing the European Super League company and all involved clubs of its final withdrawal from the European Super League project.

Following the Blaugrana’s exit, only one club remains in the project – Real Madrid. As a result, Florentino Pérez is now effectively the sole supporter of the Super League concept.

It’s worth recalling that the Super League’s story began on April 19, 2021, when 12 top European clubs announced the formation of a new tournament. However, the project lasted just two days in its original form: under unprecedented pressure from fans, politicians, and the threat of sanctions from UEFA, most participants hurriedly withdrew from the Super League ranks.

Reminder: Barcelona put an end to the Marcus Rashford saga. The Englishman will move to Camp Nou for 30 million euros.
