Official: Atlético sign a replacement for Julián Álvarez
Atlético Madrid have added another major option to Diego Simeone's attack.
Details: Atlético Madrid have officially announced the signing of Canadian striker Jonathan David. The 26-year-old forward joins the Spanish club from Juventus on a season-long loan and will spend the remainder of the 2026/27 campaign in Madrid.
The move brings an end to a rapidly developing transfer story. Atlético had approached Juventus over David in the final days of the window while searching for another centre-forward, and the parties ultimately managed to complete the operation before the deadline.
David now gives Simeone another established option in the centre of attack at a particularly intriguing moment for the club. Julián Álvarez has been at the centre of intense transfer speculation in recent days, although the Argentine remains an Atlético player and returned to group training after missing several sessions.
The Canadian striker will now try to relaunch his career in Spain after one season in Turin. It is worth noting that David made 35 Serie A appearances for Juventus in the 2025/26 campaign, scoring six goals and providing four assists.
