Official: Asante Kotoko Confirms Eric Tinkler Departure After Aduana FC Defeat

Ghana Premier League giants Asante Kotoko have officially confirmed the departure of head coach Eric Tinkler with immediate effect.

The South African tactician’s exit comes shortly after Kotoko’s 2-0 defeat to Aduana FC on Matchday 4 of the 2026/27 Ghana Premier League season.

In an official statement, the club confirmed that Tinkler requested to be released from his contract for personal reasons.

“The Board of Directors of Asante Kotoko Sporting Club has agreed to the request of its Head Coach, Mr. Eric Tinkler, to be released from his contract with the Club effective immediately for personal reasons.”

Tinkler was appointed as Asante Kotoko’s permanent head coach on July 17, 2026, taking over from Karim Zito ahead of the new Ghana Premier League campaign.

However, his time in charge lasted just four league matches, with the Porcupine Warriors recording one victory, two draws and one defeat under his management.
