Al Masry SC has officially announced the departure of head coach Ali Maher by mutual consent following the team’s recent poor results in the Egyptian Premier League.
The club’s management held a meeting with Maher on Saturday evening, where both parties agreed to end his tenure amicably after the team’s draw against Ismaily.
According to reports, Tunisian coach Anis Boujelbene, currently managing ES Jerba, is the frontrunner to replace Maher. Boujelbene, 47, has experience coaching CS Sfaxien, Stade Tunisien, and US Ben Guerdane. He also played for Al Ahly between 2007 and 2009.
Al Masry, currently fifth in the league with 24 points, will face Simba SC in the CAF Confederation Cup quarterfinals.
