Official: Al-Ahli secure one of their key players through 2030

Al-Ahli continue to solidify their squad's core, now locking in a long-term partnership with one of the team's defensive pillars.

Details: Saudi club Al-Ahli have officially announced that Brazilian centre-back Roger Ibañez will remain with the team until 2030. This puts an end to all speculation regarding the immediate future of the player.

Earlier, Saudi media reported that Al-Ahli's management had reached full agreement with the Brazilian over the terms of a new deal, aiming to keep one of their core players for the long haul. Now the agreement has been made official.

Ibañez has been playing for Al-Ahli since August 2023, when he made the move to Saudi Arabia from Italian side Roma. Since then, the defender has established himself as a mainstay in the starting lineup and become a crucial figure in the club's back line.

During the 2025/26 season, the Brazilian featured in 28 matches in the Saudi Pro League, racking up 2,471 minutes on the pitch and scoring three goals. Such playing time further highlights his importance within the squad.

Now Al-Ahli can rest easy about the future of one of their leading centre-backs: the new deal is set for several more years, and Ibañez will continue his career in Jeddah.
