Off target! Ronaldo misses penalty in match against Al-Fayha
In the 24th round of the Saudi Pro League, in a clash between Al-Nassr and Al-Fayha, Cristiano Ronaldo missed a golden opportunity to add another goal to his tally. In the 11th minute, the Portuguese star stepped up to take a penalty, but failed to break the deadlock. His shot went wide of the post.
This miss became a standout moment of the match, as Ronaldo is traditionally Al-Nassr’s main set-piece taker. Interestingly, missing from the spot is not entirely unusual for one of the most prolific scorers in football history: this was Ronaldo’s 35th missed penalty in his career.
It’s worth noting that the match against Al-Fayha proved to be another stern test for Al-Nassr in their pursuit of the Saudi Pro League title, with Ronaldo’s side continuing to battle at the top of the standings. A victory would help them retain top spot, but a slip-up could shake their position.
