Do You Want a Piece of La Bombonera? Boca Surprises Fans With Historic Seats Giveaway
Boca Juniors continues to revamp La Bombonera, with the latest renovation focusing on the iconic middle tier of the stadium. The club replaced the yellow seats—installed in 1995—with modern ones, and gave longtime fans an unforgettable souvenir: the chance to take home the old chairs.
“We replaced the seats that have been with us since 1995. They are part of our history. And we’re giving them to our members, because they are part of our history too,” said the club in a video showing the improvements and painting work carried out in the Alberto J. Armando stadium.
In recent days, Boca members were invited to pick up one seat each by presenting their membership card and ID at a nearby depot. Ahead of Sunday’s match against Barracas Central, the upgraded section will be open, and many fans have already taken home a piece of history.
Meanwhile, Boca's ambitious stadium expansion project continues to gain traction under club legend Juan Román Riquelme. According to Infobae, exclusive renders reveal plans for a revamped Bombonera with an estimated capacity of 80,000—without commercial naming rights. The project has received legislative approval, architect and engineering backing, and, crucially, full financial support. An official announcement is expected in 2026.
