NY Red Bulls in Talks to Sign Timo Werner from RB Leipzig

The New York Red Bulls are in negotiations to acquire German striker Timo Werner from RB Leipzig, according to sources cited by GIVEMESPORT. The move would reunite Werner with Emil Forsberg, his former teammate at the Bundesliga club.

Werner, 29, recently completed an 18-month loan at Tottenham Hotspur, where his role diminished over time. He previously starred for Leipzig, contributing to the club’s Champions League campaigns and domestic success. Internationally, he has tallied 24 goals in 57 appearances for Germany.

In the 2022–23 season, Werner recorded nine goals and four assists in 1,950 Bundesliga minutes. He also played for Chelsea and came through the ranks at VfB Stuttgart.

At RBNY, Werner would join an attack led by Forsberg and Eric-Maxim Choupo-Moting. The Red Bulls currently sit seventh in the Eastern Conference with 28 points from 19 matches. The MLS summer transfer window opens July 24.
