NPFL: Shooting Stars Assistant Coach Sikiru Lawal Laments Missed Chances After Loss to Abia Warriors
Assistant coach of Shooting Stars Sports Club, Sikiru Lawal, has voiced his disappointment following the team’s loss to Abia Warriors, admitting that poor finishing and midfield struggles played a key role in the result.
Reacting after the match, Lawal said his players failed to convert the opportunities they created, which ultimately left them without a goal in the encounter. He also acknowledged that the team struggled to impose themselves in midfield, particularly during the opening half.
According to the assistant coach, the technical crew had expected his side to control that area of the pitch, but the visitors proved stronger and more dominant.
“Unfortunately, we didn’t take our chances and couldn’t get on the score sheet.
Where we believed we were supposed to have overpowered them, particularly in the midfield, they ended up dominating us. They really overpowered us in that area, especially in the first half.
We just have to go back, work harder and make sure we improve in our next games.”
