Rangers International have come out strongly to contest the disciplinary action taken against them by the Nigeria Premier Football League after their match against Barau FC in Enugu.

The league body imposed a N4 million fine on the club and ruled that their next two home fixtures must be played without fans. This decision was based on claims that the club failed to ensure proper security and that match officials were subjected to harassment by supporters.

However, Rangers have rejected the ruling in clear terms. The club’s General Manager, Amobi Ezeaku, described the allegations as unfounded and lacking any credible backing.

In an official communication sent to the NPFL’s Chief Operating Officer, Ezeaku maintained that the accusations do not align with what transpired.

“Rangers International FC categorically rejects all allegations contained therein, as they are entirely false, misleading, and not supported by facts or evidence,” Amobi said in a letter sent to the Chief Operating Officer of the NPFL, which was sighted by our correspondent.

“At no point were match officials harassed, threatened, or held against their will. We possess clear video evidence of the immediate aftermath of the match, which shows a controlled environment and directly contradicts these claims,” Amobi added.

“For the avoidance of doubt, the club is also in possession of additional material evidence and information which, if made public, may raise serious concerns and potentially bring aspects of the league into disrepute.”
