NPFL: Salisu Yusuf Reflects on Shooting Stars’ Defeat to Warri Wolves

Shooting Stars head coach Salisu Yusuf has reflected on his side’s 1-0 defeat to Warri Wolves in Matchday 6 of the Nigeria Premier Football League (NPFL).

The Oluyole Warriors travelled to the Southern Delta University Stadium looking to build on their impressive 2-0 victory over Katsina United in their previous league game.

However, Warri Wolves scored the only goal of the encounter and held on to claim all three points.

Shooting Stars pushed for an equaliser but struggled to find a way through the hosts’ defence, eventually suffering their first defeat after failing to convert their chances.

Speaking after the match, the club’s media team asked Yusuf to assess his team’s performance and the result.

The experienced coach admitted that while the result was disappointing, he was pleased with the number of chances his players created.

“I think this game, in terms of playing and creating chances, is the best game we've played so far this year. We had chances which we could have scored, but we didn't score. We will continue to work on our finishing, and I think the team will soon start scoring goals again.”

Shooting Stars will now shift focus and prepare for their next league fixture. Yusuf will be expecting his players to work on the issues that cost them the game against Warri Wolves and produce a stronger response.
