NPFL: Rivers United Technical Adviser Finidi George Expresses Frustration After 1-1 Draw With Abia Warriors

Rivers United technical adviser Finidi George has voiced his disappointment following his team’s 1-1 draw against Abia Warriors in the Nigeria Professional Football League (NPFL) matchday 16 clash at the Umuahia Township Stadium on Sunday.

The game saw Rivers United take the lead late through Maclyn Biokpo, who scored just three minutes from time. However, the hosts struck back in dramatic fashion as Suraj Lawal equalised deep into stoppage time, denying the Rivers side all three points.

Speaking to the club’s media team after the match, Finidi expressed frustration over his team’s inability to maintain their lead.

“It’s just concentration. We need to get the players stronger mentally to be able to manage games when the match is almost over,” Finidi said.

“It’s not a physical issue; it’s unfortunate how the goal was conceded. We came to Umuahia not to lose, but perhaps the players were not even sure if we could get a victory from this game. Overall, it’s a sad one.”
