NPFL: Rivers United Cruise Past Abia Warriors 3-0 to Close Gap at the Top
Rivers United FC delivered a dominant second-half performance to secure a convincing 3-0 victory over Abia Warriors in the Nigeria Premier Football League at the Adokiye Amiesimaka Stadium.
The first half was tightly contested, with both sides struggling to break the deadlock as it ended goalless despite Rivers United enjoying more of the possession.
After the break, Rivers United stepped up their intensity and made their pressure count. Wasiu Falolu opened the scoring to give the home side the lead before Sylvester Bell added a second to put them firmly in control. Bello Babatunde then sealed the emphatic win with a third goal late in the game.
The result moves Rivers United up to second place in the NPFL standings, just one point behind leaders Rangers International. For Abia Warriors, the defeat sees them remain in fifth place with 55 points.
