NPFL: Rivers United Coach Yemi Olarewaju Blames Fatigue for 4-1 Loss to Barau FC
Rivers United head coach Yemi Olarewaju has attributed his team’s heavy 4-1 defeat to Barau FC to player fatigue. The Pride of Rivers suffered the loss on Friday at the Sani Abacha Stadium in Kano, ending their impressive seven-game unbeaten streak on the road.
Despite dominating large parts of the match, Olarewaju admitted that exhaustion played a major role in the unexpected result. Speaking to the club’s media team, he said:
“We dominated the majority of the game, but the outcome wasn’t what we expected as it was due to fatigue. The league is a marathon—we have to put the defeat behind us and focus on the next game.”
Rivers United will now turn their attention to their upcoming league fixture against Katsina United. The team will travel to Ilorin on Monday for matchday 18, looking to bounce back and regain momentum in the Nigerian Professional Football League.
