NPFL: Plateau United Demand Investigation After 2-1 Defeat to Ikorodu City in Lagos

Plateau United have released a strongly worded official statement following their 2–1 defeat to Ikorodu City FC at the Mobolaji Johnson Arena in Onikan, Lagos. The club expressed deep concern over several incidents that unfolded around the NPFL Matchday 13 fixture, events they say raised serious questions about fairness, security, and the integrity of the match environment.

According to the club, issues began even before kickoff. Plateau United reported that they faced unexpected challenges while trying to access a full training pitch for their mandatory pre-match session. Team representatives said they were informed that only half of the pitch would be made available, forcing the squad to train late into the evening without proper lighting. Despite seeking clarification through official NPFL channels, the situation reportedly remained unresolved before matchday.

The club confirmed that parts of the incident were captured in images and videos, which they intend to submit to the NPFL, the Nigeria Football Federation, and relevant security agencies as part of a formal complaint. Plateau United stressed their commitment to sportsmanship, professionalism, and respect, insisting that football must remain a safe and fair environment for everyone, players, officials, and fans alike.
