NPFL: Ogunmodede Praises Kano Pillars Players After Katsina United Win
Kano Pillars technical adviser Daniel Ogunmodede has praised his players for handling pressure after their 1-0 win over Katsina United in the NPFL.
Yahaya Ibrahim's early goal in the 6th minute at the Sani Abacha Stadium sealed the win for Pillars, ending a five-match winless run and giving the home fans something to celebrate.
Speaking after the game, Ogunmodede admitted the poor run had affected the players' confidence but lauded them for responding well against a well-motivated Katsina United side.
"I would like to congratulate my boys for giving a good fight. In the last five matches, we have not tasted victory. That is not good for the psychology of the boys. We are not happy with our run so far and with our last two games at home, we have not given our fans what they needed. So it is a game where we expect pressure, and I say congratulations to my boys for being able to swallow the pressure."
The coach said the most important thing was securing the maximum three points and breaking the jinx of not winning in the last five or six matches.
"It is one of those things, but one of the most important things is getting the maximum three points. Breaking the jinx of not being able to win in our last 5-6 matches. I'm happy with that," he added.
The win gives Kano Pillars a chance to rebuild confidence and find consistency as the season progresses.
