NPFL: Niger Tornadoes Coach Dogo Explains Tactics Behind Tornadoes' First Away Win

Niger Tornadoes Coach Dogo Explains Tactics Behind Tornadoes' First Away Win

Niger Tornadoes boss Kabiru Dogo has opened up on the tactical approach that earned his side a 1-0 win away to Abia Warriors in Matchday 10 of the 2026/27 NPFL season.

Wasiu Jimoh's 56th-minute strike proved decisive as the Ikon Allah Boys secured their first away win of the season, with Dogo noting that his knowledge of fellow coaches in the league and a review of Abia Warriors' last outing against Kwara United helped them spot weaknesses to exploit.

"Yes, there is not much, at least the players know themselves in the league, the coaches we know ourselves, we know the philosophy of everybody. Yeah, and the last game, we watched it in their game in Kwara, and I believe that we should capitalize on one or two things” Dogo said after the match.

The Tornadoes coach further explained that deploying two strikers from the start of the game was a calculated decision to put pressure on the hosts and disrupt their rhythm.

“ If you look at it today, we started with two strikers at a time, so we see that they are not a possession side, and we believe that we have to take the fight to them and to neutralize their move, and we thank God it still worked out for us.”

Niger Tornadoes will now look to build on this momentum and carry their winning into their next NPFL fixture as they aim to maintain their progress in the campaign.
