NPFL: Niger Tornadoes Beat Enyimba 2-1 in Season Opener

Niger Tornadoes began their 2026/27 Nigeria Premier Football League (NPFL) campaign with a 2-1 victory over Enyimba at the Bako Kontagora Stadium.

The hosts broke the deadlock in the 40th minute when Aliyu Goyi calmly converted from the penalty spot to give Niger Tornadoes a 1-0 lead at half-time.

Enyimba came out stronger after the break and levelled the score with a well-taken header.

However, Niger Tornadoes regained the advantage in the 82nd minute when Olalusi Michael produced a fine low finish to make it 2-1.

The home side held on in the closing stages to secure all three points and start the new NPFL season with a victory.
