NPFL: NFF Reduces Remo Stars’ Home Ban to Five Matches After Appeal
The Nigeria Football Federation (NFF) has reduced Remo Stars’ home ban to five matches after reviewing an appeal against sanctions earlier imposed by the Nigeria Premier Football League (NPFL).
The original punishment followed crowd disturbances during Remo Stars’ league fixture against Ikorodu City. As part of its ruling, the NPFL had ordered the club to play all remaining home matches of the 2025/2026 season away from their Ikenne Stadium, with the Lekan Salami Stadium in Ibadan designated as their temporary home ground.
However, after careful consideration, the NFF Appeals Committee decided to scale down the severity of the sanction. Under the revised ruling, Remo Stars will now serve a five-match home ban, which takes effect immediately and runs concurrently from the date of the decision.
Despite the reduction in the home ban, the NFF upheld the financial penalties imposed on the club. Remo Stars will pay a total fine of ₦5 million, broken down as follows:
- ₦2 million for inadequate security arrangements
- ₦1 million for objects thrown onto the pitch by supporters
- ₦2 million as compensation for injuries sustained and damage caused to Ikorodu City’s team bus
