NPFL: Nasarawa United Head Coach Mbwas Mangut Calls Win Over Abia Warriors “A Great Win”

Nasarawa United head coach Mbwas Mangut has described his team’s victory over Abia Warriors as “a great win” following their impressive performance in the Nigeria Premier Football League (NPFL) on Sunday.

The Lafia-based side secured a 2–1 away victory over Abia Warriors at the Umuahia Township Stadium, coming from behind to claim all three points in a tense Round 22 encounter.

Abia Warriors took the lead in the first half, putting Nasarawa United under early pressure. However, Mangut’s men responded strongly after the break, showing resilience and improved organization.

Substitute Habibu Alakija made an immediate impact by scoring the equalizer just two minutes into the second half. Momentum quickly shifted in Nasarawa United’s favor, and Jofrank Istifanus sealed the comeback with the winning goal in the 55th minute.

Speaking after the match, Mangut praised his players for their determination and ability to respond under pressure.

“It’s quite a great win for us. We knew very well that we needed to get ourselves together to do what we did today,” Mangut told the club’s media.

The important away victory has pushed Nasarawa United up to second place on the NPFL table, boosting their confidence as the season progresses.
