NPFL: Nasarawa United Coach Mbwas Mangut Laments Missed Opportunity After 1-1 Draw Against Kwara United
Nasarawa United head coach Mbwas Mangut has expressed disappointment after his team was held to a 1-1 draw by Kwara United in their Nigeria Premier Football League (NPFL) Matchday 12 clash at the Lafia City Stadium on Sunday.
The Solid Miners, one of the most consistent teams this season, were unable to make the most of their home advantage as Kwara United produced a disciplined display to earn a point in Lafia.
Speaking after the match, Technical Adviser Mangut Mbwas attributed the result to a congested fixture schedule that saw his side play three matches within one week. According to him, fatigue played a major role in his team’s reduced intensity.
“This really is not the result we had wanted. It’s painful to drop points in front of our supporters, especially considering our recent form and the expectations around the team,” Mangut said. “The players were exhausted. We’ve had a cluster of games in a short period—away in Port Harcourt, then Thursday in Lafia, and now today again. It has definitely taken its toll because we didn’t have the same energy and intensity we showed in previous matches.”
Nasarawa United remain top of the Nigeria Premier League, accumulating 23 points from 12 games, just one point ahead of second-placed Abia Warriors. Their next game will see the Solid Miners make the trip to face Kun Khalifa in the Round 13 clash.
