NPFL Matchday 16: Nasarawa United Climb to the Summit as Pillars Boost Survival Hopes
Matchday 16 of the Nigeria Premier Football League (NPFL) served up drama, intensity, and crucial goals across all centres, reshaping both the title race and the relegation battle.
Nasarawa United returned to the top of the table after edging Shooting Stars 1–0 at the Lafia City Stadium. Their narrow victory proved decisive, especially after previous leaders Ikorodu City were unable to break down Wikki Tourists in a cagey goalless draw.
At the other end of the table, Kano Pillars took a significant step in their fight for survival with a 2–1 win over fellow strugglers Kun Khalifa. The victory cuts their deficit to seven points from safety, giving the Sai Masu Gida renewed confidence heading into the next round.
