NPFL: Kwara United Coach Ashifat Sulyman Expresses Disappointment After 2-2 Draw Against Kano Pillars
Kwara United head coach Ashifat Sulyman has expressed his disappointment after his side were held to a 2-2 draw by Kano Pillars in their opening match of the 2026/27 Euromatch Nigeria Premier Football League (NPFL) season on Sunday.
The Harmony Boys went two goals down in the first half at the Rashidi Yekini Mainbowl of the George Innih Stadium in Ilorin before staging a strong comeback after the break.
Substitute Alex Jerry played a key role in the second-half fightback as Kwara United recovered to claim a point on home soil.
Speaking after the match, Sulyman admitted that his team failed to take advantage of the chances they created, while Kano Pillars were more clinical in front of goal.
“We failed to take our chances and this haunted us. Kano Pillars utilised the chances that came their way. We will make up for this in our subsequent games,” Sulyman said as quoted on the club channel.
Kwara United will now prepare for their Matchday Two fixture against Plateau United in Jos next weekend.
