NPFL: Kwara United Coach Ashifat Suleiman Blames Injuries for 3–1 Defeat to Enyimba
Kwara United head coach Ashifat Suleiman has explained that injuries to key players during the warm-up were a major factor in their 3–1 defeat to Enyimba International on Sunday at the Enyimba International Stadium, Aba. The setback forced last-minute tactical adjustments, which Suleiman says affected the team’s performance in the Nigeria Premier Football League (NPFL) Matchday 17 clash.
Speaking after the match with the club media, Kwara United head coach, Ashifat Suleiman, attributed the loss to forced tactical changes following injuries to key players during the warm-up.
“We had to change our game pattern a few minutes into the match because two of our regular players, including midfielder Philip Ozor and one defender, sustained injuries during the warm-up,” Suleiman said. “Football is like that sometimes. We will go back, prepare, and regroup for our next game.”
The defeat sees Kwara United drop to 12th position on the NPFL standings, with 21 points from 17 matches. The team will aim to recover when they host Bayelsa United next Sunday, hoping to regain momentum in the league.
