NPFL: Finidi George Laments Rivers United Defeat to Warri Wolves
Rivers United head coach Finidi George has described his side’s 2-0 loss to Warri Wolves as a tough setback following their NPFL Matchday 33 encounter in Ozoro, Delta State.
The Pride of Rivers were unable to find their rhythm in the South-South derby, falling short against a determined Warri Wolves side at the Southern Delta University Stadium. The result has added pressure in the closing stages of the season, where every point is crucial.
Reacting after the match, Finidi admitted the defeat was hard to take, especially given the importance of the fixture.
“Every loss is painful, but at this point in the league, a point would have been a good one because we had the opportunity to fight for it, but it just wasn’t possible today. That’s football. Let’s see how we can play our home match and ensure we win that one,” Finidi said.
“It’s not going to affect us. We know what’s at stake. We just have to continue to encourage our players and see how we can win our home match. That’s what we’re going to do.”
