Abia Warriors have been fined a total of N3.25 million by the Nigeria Premier Football League (NPFL) following incidents during their Matchday 10 fixture against Niger Tornadoes on Sunday.

According to an official statement, the club was charged with failing to provide adequate security as agreed at the pre-match technical meeting. An Abia Warriors official was also accused of harassing a crew member of the league’s broadcast partner while attempting to disrupt the live transmission of the match.

The NPFL also imposed an N1 million fine on Abia Warriors for the security failure and another N2 million penalty for the attempted broadcast disruption.

In addition, the club must pay N250,000 in compensation to the affected broadcast crew member to cover treatment for an injury sustained during the incident.

Abia Warriors multimedia officer Chidera Favour Igwe has also been suspended from all NPFL activities for five matches, both home and away, over his alleged involvement in the broadcast disruption and harassment of the crew member.
