NPFL: Fidelis Ilechukwu Pleased as 10-Man Rangers Hold Abia Warriors in Oriental Derby
Rangers International head coach Fidelis Ilechukwu has expressed his satisfaction after his side, reduced to 10 men, battled to a goalless draw against Abia Warriors in the highly anticipated Oriental Derby on Sunday.
The encounter, played at the Enyimba International Stadium in Aba, saw Rangers dig deep for a valuable point despite playing a large part of the match with a man down.
Speaking after the game, Ilechukwu praised his players for their preparation, discipline, and resilience against a strong opponent.
“We’re happy with this game. We prepared very well before coming here. We know Abia Warriors are one of the best teams in Nigeria,” he said.
“They are a continental team, and we thank God that at the end of the day, we’re going back home to Enugu with something.”
Rangers International will now turn their focus to their next Nigeria Premier Football League (NPFL) fixture, where they are set to welcome Wikki Tourists to their home ground in Enugu on Sunday.
