NPFL: Evans Ogenyi Praises Wikki Tourists’ Effort Despite 3–2 Loss to Shooting Stars
Wikki Tourists head coach Evans Ogenyi has praised the players' effort despite their 3–2 defeat to Shooting Stars Sports Club in a thrilling Matchday 30 encounter in the Nigeria Premier Football League (NPFL) on Sunday.
The match turned out to be an entertaining five-goal contest, with both teams creating several chances throughout the game. Shooting Stars eventually secured the win late on when Al’amin rose highest to head home from a corner kick in the 88th minute, sealing a dramatic victory for the Ibadan-based side.
Speaking after the match, Ogenyi admitted the result was disappointing but commended his players for their determination and performance during the encounter.
“My boys played well, but the early and late goals were demoralising. We have seen the good and bad sides of the game and we will work especially on the bad side to improve in those areas before our next game,” he said.
Wikki Tourists will now turn their attention to their next fixture where they are set to host Barau FC on Matchday 31.
