NPFL: Enyimba Coach Lawrence Ukaegbu Blames Defensive Errors for 2–1 Loss to Remo Stars
Enyimba head coach Lawrence Ukaegbu has attributed his team’s 2–1 defeat to reigning champions Remo Stars to costly defensive lapses during their NPFL clash on Sunday at the MKO Abiola Sports Arena.
Speaking after the match, Ukaegbu commended his players’ overall performance but admitted that unforced errors at the back ultimately decided the outcome.
“It was a good game, but the careless mistakes at the back cost us,” Ukaegbu said in his post-match interview. “We’ve identified the errors, and we’ll go home and correct them.”
He also acknowledged the quality of the opposition, noting that both sides played well, but Enyimba’s mistakes handed Remo Stars the advantage.
“They are not a bad side, and they played well just like we did, but the mistakes gave them the edge.”
With the defeat behind them, the People’s Elephant will now shift focus to their next fixture, as they prepare to host Kwara United at the Enyimba International Stadium in Aba on Sunday, December 12, 2025.
