Clubs employ various tactics in the transfer market, but not all of them are above board, which can draw scrutiny from regulatory authorities.

Details: According to The Athletic, Nottingham Forest is preparing to file a formal complaint against Tottenham for allegedly making an illegal approach to Forest midfielder Gibbs-White without permission to open talks.

The club is also concerned about how Tottenham obtained confidential details of the player's contract, including the existence of a £60 million release clause. The transfer was believed to be on the verge of completion, but the dispute between the clubs could delay the process.

Reminder: Earlier reports indicated that the player himself has already agreed to the move, leaving the final decision in the hands of the clubs.

Last season, the midfielder featured in 37 matches, scoring 10 goals and providing 10 assists.
