Not without sensation. All quarterfinalists of the World Junior Ice Hockey Championships

In Gothenburg, Sweden, today marked the culmination of the group stage matches in the World Junior Hockey Championship. Following the last game, all quarterfinal matchups for the playoffs were determined.

In Group A, the hosts stood out. Team Sweden secured the top spot after defeating the Canadians and, in a non-decisive match today, lost to the Finns in a shootout. Canada advanced to the quarterfinals in second place, while Latvia, thanks to yesterday's sensational victory over Germany, finished fourth. Thus, the German national team sensationally missed out on the playoffs.

Group B saw triumph for the USA, who scored 29 goals in four matches against their opponents. The Slovaks took second place, while the Norwegians did not score a single point and will play the Germans in the survival match in the elite division.

It's worth noting that the quarterfinal matches will take place on Tuesday, January 2nd.
