Atlético are closing in on the transfer of Bayer Leverkusen and Spain national team defender Alejandro Grimaldo.
Details: The Madrid club has already agreed personal terms with the 30-year-old and is now in negotiations with Bayer.
The transfer fee for Grimaldo is expected to exceed €10 million. His current contract with the "pharmacists" runs until the summer of 2027.
Grimaldo is capable of playing both as a left-back and as a left midfielder. In the 2025/26 season, he made 46 appearances for Bayer, scoring 14 goals and providing 12 assists.
Earlier, Atlético were interested in Chelsea’s Marc Cucurella, but he accepted an offer from another Spanish giant—Real Madrid. Atlético finished fourth in La Liga, while Bayer took sixth place in the Bundesliga and secured a Europa League spot.
