In the early hours of Thursday, July 3, the two CONCACAF Gold Cup semifinal matches took place, and now the tournament finalists have been decided.
The United States faced Guatemala and clinched victory thanks to a brace from Diego Luna. The Guatemalans pulled one back in the dying moments, but the Americans held on to their lead.
The second semifinal was also decided by the slimmest of margins. Mexico capitalized on their advantage in the 50th minute—and that proved enough for the win. The lone goal came courtesy of Raúl Jiménez.
The CONCACAF Gold Cup final will be held in the early hours of Monday, July 7, at 1:00 a.m. Central European Time.
