Spain head coach Luis de la Fuente is considered the leading favorite to win the award for the best coach of the year at the 2026 Ballon d’Or ceremony. Mundo Deportivo reports.

The Spanish manager made the shortlist of five nominees alongside Luis Enrique of PSG, Mikel Arteta of Arsenal, Unai Emery of Aston Villa and Vincent Kompany of Bayern Munich. According to the source, De la Fuente has the best chance of winning the prestigious award, ahead of Luis Enrique in the race.

The key factor in the Spain manager’s favor was his success at the World Cup. In addition, Spain sit top of the FIFA rankings and have gone unbeaten in 43 consecutive competitive matches.

As a reminder, the awards ceremony will take place next Monday in London. De la Fuente plans to attend the event alongside Royal Spanish Football Federation president Rafael Louzán and other representatives of the organization.
