This Premier League season featured several memorable corner-kick routines known for their physical and aggressive blocking tactics, but those moves will not be allowed at the World Cup.

Details: According to EL MUNDO, players will no longer be permitted to set screens or block opponents during corner kicks. It will not matter whether the ball is in play or not. If a player obstructs an opponent and a goal is scored as a result of the move, the goal will be immediately disallowed.

Meanwhile, ahead of the 2026 FIFA World Cup, further amendments and new additions to the Laws of the Game have been introduced with the aim of reducing time-wasting.

Reminder: FIFA president Gianni Infantino recently addressed the high-profile controversy involving Somali referee Omar Artan, who was barred from entering the United States by American authorities over alleged links to terrorist organisations.
