No phones, no haircuts! Klopp introduces strict new rules for Germany stars
Jürgen Klopp is making his mark on Germany before his players even step onto the pitch.
Details: According to BILD, the Germany head coach has introduced stricter rules at the national team camp, changing how players spend their time together before matches. The measures cover team dinners, phone use, visits from hairdressers and contact with family members during major tournaments.
Under the new arrangements, players must arrive at dinner together at the designated time, either 7 p.m. or 8 p.m. Previously, they could enter the dining room at different points within an agreed window. Klopp reportedly wants the shared meal to give the squad more opportunities to talk and spend time as a group.
Phones are also restricted during pre-match activities. Players are expected to put their devices away while working in the gym or receiving massages, allowing them to focus on their preparations and communicate with teammates. The reported measure is not a blanket ban on mobile phones throughout the team hotel.
Haircuts at the team hotel are no longer permitted, meaning players will need to arrange them elsewhere. Family visits during major tournaments are set to become less frequent as well, although exceptions may still be allowed.
It is worth noting that Klopp’s first match as Germany head coach is scheduled for September 24, when his side face the Netherlands in Amsterdam in the UEFA Nations League. Kick-off is set for 8:45 p.m. local time.
