“No manager can succeed under these conditions,” Sabri Lamouchi opens up about his sacking by Tunisia
A month after stepping down as head coach of the Eagles of Carthage, the French tactician has spoken out about the circumstances surrounding his sacking.
Appearing on the Kampo podcast, Sabri Lamouchi has spoken out about the hours following Tunisia’s heavy 5–1 defeat to Sweden in the group stage of the 2026 World Cup. The former manager of the Eagles of Carthage claims to have learnt of his sacking indirectly, upon waking up, even before being officially informed by the leaders of the Tunisian Football Federation.
“I woke up early and saw 27 missed calls from my family and friends. Apparently, there had been an official statement from the TFF announcing my departure. That was the beginning of the end.
I went to training. Some players came up to me and said we’d see it through together. No manager can succeed under such circumstances.”
