Al Ahly SC have reportedly decided not to extend the contract of veteran Tunisian left back Ali Maaloul, while also preparing to offload winger Ahmed Abdelkader during the upcoming summer transfer window.

Maaloul's Farewell Set in Motion

Ali Maaloul, 35, is in the final months of his contract. Having joined Al Ahly from CS Sfaxien in 2016, he became a cornerstone of the club’s domestic dominance and CAF Champions League success.

Despite suffering a serious Achilles tendon injury in May and experiencing a fallout with former coach Marcel Koller, Maaloul returned to action under new boss Emad El Nahhas, even providing an assist in a recent 5-0 win.

However, according to OnTime Sports, Al Ahly have decided not to renew his contract. The Tunisian international will miss the 2025 FIFA Club World Cup in the U.S., where Al Ahly are scheduled to face Inter Miami on June 14.

Ahmed Abdelkader Also Set to Depart

Meanwhile, Ahmed Abdelkader, currently on loan at Qatar SC, will also be excluded from Al Ahly’s plans next season. The club reportedly aims to either sell or loan him out again.

Respectful Send-Off Expected

The club is now considering a respectful farewell for Maaloul, honoring his long-standing contributions over nearly a decade at the Cairo giants.
