Los Angeles Mayor Karen Bass has announced that the 2028 Olympics will be "Games without cars." The city is actively preparing for the event, which will take place in four years.

Bass, along with Casey Wasserman, chair of the LA 2028 organizing committee, outlined some of the plans already in place. At a press conference in Paris on Saturday, Bass emphasized the challenge of city traffic and declared that Los Angeles aims to host a car-free Olympics.

"We are already working on creating jobs and expanding our public transportation system to make the Games car-free. For Los Angeles, this is a significant challenge since we've always been committed to our cars. We are working to make the city greener," she said.

According to Bass, public transportation will be the only way to reach Olympic venues. Plans include bringing in 3,000 buses from other American cities and asking companies to allow their employees to work from home during the Games.

"Hosting a car-free Olympics involves efforts to convince people not to use personal transport," she noted.

Bass also admitted that there are no official agreements yet with Los Angeles companies regarding remote work during the Olympics.

This will be the third time Los Angeles hosts the Olympics, having previously done so in 1932 and 1984.
