On Friday, March 1st, the World Indoor Athletics Championships commenced in Glasgow, Scotland.

In the first day of the championships, the women's high jump final took place. Ultimately, two athletes competed for the title of world champion - Yaroslava Mahuchikh and Nicola Olyslagers. After the fifth bar of the tournament - 1.97 meters - Mahuchikh emerged as the sole leader of the competition. Only the Australian athlete joined her at the height of 1.99 meters.

Both Mahuchikh and Olyslagers failed to clear their initial attempts at 1.99 meters. Also, neither athlete succeeded on their second try. The fate of the championship came down to the final, third attempts. Nikola Olyslagers managed to clear the bar, while Yaroslava Mahuchikh grazed the bar for the third time.

Thus, the victory at the World Indoor Athletics Championships in Glasgow went to the Australian athlete Nikola Olyslagers. The second place was secured by the Ukrainian Yaroslava Mahuchikh, while the Slovenian athlete Lia Apostolovska completed the top three.
