“I was training with [a team-mate], and he landed his knee on my penis, and I felt an absurd pain and went to the bathroom. I was in Sao Paulo the other day, and my thing looked weird, it looked different, it has a lump. My girl told me to go to the hospital and they did an ultrasound exam, and told me to go to a different hospital right away for an emergency surgery,” Mendonça recounted.
Doctors informed the Brazilian fighter that he would need at least two months away from the octagon. They advised against any form of training during this recovery period.
Since UFC fighting is Mendonça’s primary source of income, he has turned to selling memorabilia through social media to make ends meet. Items include UFC-branded shirts and gloves.
Mendonça competes in the flyweight division and has had 12 professional fights, securing 9 victories in his career.
