The Egyptian national team has confirmed that their friendly match against Nigeria has been pushed back by two days following a request from the Nigeria Football Federation. The game, initially set for December 14, will now be played on December 16.

Team director Ibrahim Hassan explained the change, saying, "The Nigeria match will be held on December 16 instead of the 14, after Nigeria requested a 48-hour postponement… The match will take place at Cairo Stadium at 8 pm." He noted that all logistical arrangements have been updated, with the venue remaining the Cairo International Stadium.

Nigeria asked for the shift after FIFA announced December 15 as the mandatory release date for international players ahead of next year’s AFCON. The friendly is expected to help both teams assess their squads and sharpen tactics.

The Super Eagles have already named a 54-man provisional squad and are targeting a fourth AFCON title after finishing as runners-up in Ivory Coast.
