Nigerian President Tinubu Speaks with Anthony Joshua After Tragic Ogun State Road Accident
Nigerian President Bola Ahmed Tinubu has confirmed that he held separate telephone conversations with Nigerian-British boxing star Anthony Joshua and his mother following a tragic road accident in Ogun State. The incident, which occurred along the busy Lagos–Ibadan Motorway, left the former heavyweight champion injured and resulted in the deaths of two of his close associates.
The accident sparked widespread concern and sympathy across Nigeria, with fans, sports figures, and public officials expressing support for Joshua during the difficult period.
According to the President, the calls were made to personally check on the boxer’s condition, extend heartfelt condolences, and offer prayers to him and his family as they cope with the loss.
“I spoke with AJ on the phone to personally convey my condolences over the death of his two associates. I wished him well and prayed for him. He assured me that he is receiving the best care in the hospital.”
