Tragic news has emerged from Lithuania as Nigerian footballer Chinonso Jeremiah was reportedly attacked while attempting to join his team’s bus in the city of Alytus.
According to reports, the player was approached from behind by an assailant who stabbed him multiple times, injuring his hand, back, and lower body. The attack continued until passersby intervened and came to Jeremiah’s aid, preventing further harm.
In a statement on Tuesday, the Lithuanian Football Federation (LFF) condemned the incident, describing it as a “manifestation of racism.” Authorities have confirmed that the suspect is now in police custody, and investigations are ongoing.
