Nigerian businessman who wanted to buy Sheffield United turned out to be a fraudster
Nigerian businessman Dozi Mmobuosi, who was going to become one of the owners of the English club Sheffield United, tried to deceive investors.
According to Sky Sports, the famous African businessman has already been charged by the US Financial Services.
In particular, he is suspected of forging documents. The businessman deliberately inflated the financial performance of his companies, the US Securities and Exchange Commission (SEC) said on Monday. We are talking about fraud worth hundreds of millions of dollars.
According to the regulator, the fraud orchestrated by Mmobuosi was “staggering” and had roots going back many years.
“Mmobuosi and the entities he controlled fraudulently obtained hundreds of millions in money or property through these schemes,” the SEC said in a statement.
