Nigerian-Born Goalkeeper Arthur Okonkwo Stars as Wrexham Knock Out Nottingham Forest in FA Cup Thriller
Nigerian-born goalkeeper Arthur Okonkwo was the standout performer as Wrexham edged past Nottingham Forest 4–3 on penalties in a thrilling Emirates FA Cup third-round clash.
The Championship side held their nerve in the shootout, with Okonkwo producing decisive saves to stop Igor Jesus and Omari Hutchinson. Successful penalties from Josh Windass, Callum Doyle, George Thomason, and Jay Rodriguez ensured Wrexham completed a memorable victory after an intense 120 minutes.
Wrexham enjoyed a strong first half and went into the break with a 2–0 advantage, courtesy of well-taken goals from Liberato Cacace and Ollie Rathbone.
The Premier League side showed more urgency after the restart, with Igor Jesus heading home in the 64th minute to reduce the deficit. However, Wrexham responded almost immediately as Dominic Hyam restored the two-goal cushion with a powerful diving header.
Nottingham Forest refused to give up, and substitute Callum Hudson-Odoi inspired a dramatic comeback. The winger found the net in the 76th and 89th minutes, forcing the tie into extra time after a pulsating second half.
