Nigeria vs DR Congo: Chelle Names Strong Super Eagles XI with Key Changes
Nigeria coach Eric Chelle has made key tactical and personnel changes as the Super Eagles face DR Congo in the CAF World Cup playoff final this evening. The team switches from Thursday’s 4-2-2-2 setup against Gabon to a more crowded 4-3-3 formation, aimed at matching DR Congo’s youthful and energetic midfield.
Stanley Nwabali keeps his place in goal. In defence, Semi Ajayi and Calvin Bassey start as centre-backs, with Benjamin Fredrick stepping in at right-back after Bright Osayi-Samuel was benched. Zaidu Sanusi stays on the left.
Wilfred Ndidi anchors the midfield, supported by Alex Iwobi and Frank Onyeka. Chelle’s decision reflects the need for “more bodies in the middle of the park,” given the strength of DR Congo’s midfielders.
Upfront, Galatasaray striker Victor Osimhen leads the attack. He is joined by Ademola Lookman on the left and Samuel Chukwueze on the right, forming a pacey and attack-minded frontline.
