Nigeria Secures Hosting Rights for Africa’s First Supporters Awards

Nigeria recorded a major boost at the Confederation of African Sports Supporters meeting in Casablanca, Morocco, after clinching three key wins. The meeting appointed Nigeria Football Supporters Club President, Dr. Rafiu Ladipo, as Patron of the continental body and selected Nigeria to host the maiden African Supporters Awards in Lagos in March. Rev. Samuel Ikpea was named chairman of the local organising committee.

Ladipo thanked delegates for the confidence shown, saying, “This honour reflects the hard work and consistency of Nigerian football supporters”… He pledged unity, adding, “Support for football must never be associated with violence or disorder,” across Africa.
