Nigeria Open AFCON 2025 Campaign Against Tanzania

Nigeria kick off their Africa Cup of Nations 2025 campaign on Tuesday evening with a Group C clash against Tanzania’s Taifa Stars at the Fez Stadium, Soccernet.ng reports.

Under pressure after failing to qualify for the 2026 FIFA World Cup, the Super Eagles arrive in Morocco needing convincing performances and silverware. Their opener offers a chance to set the tone in a group that also includes Tunisia and Uganda.

Nigeria finished runners-up at the last AFCON in 2023 and remain one of the tournament favourites. Tanzania, however, come in as underdogs with belief after drawing two group matches at the previous edition.

Kick-off is set for 6:30pm local time on Tuesday, December 23. Nigeria, ranked 38th, boast stars like Victor Osimhen and Ademola Lookman. Tanzania are ranked 112th and rely on team chemistry and discipline defensively.
